Let me start with a cliche—It's a gentleman's game. But not a lot of people know about this; an old notion is that the name was short for 'Gentlemen only, Ladies Forbidden'. Today, it's about class, money and time; with a liberal dose of patience, of course. It's about nice (white) boots, nice caps, glitzy expensive clubs, white balls and a serene landscape. But more than anything else, it's about perfecting the all-important swing. Perhaps, the gentle part in this gentleman's game is the way you play it—walk, aim and swing. The whole aura from the boots to the whole big landscape with fairways, water bodies, sands, greens and bushes makes it the only game of such elegance and style. It's not a popular game, that's to say that you don't have golf fever like cricket fever. Although it's a men's game, there's no adrenaline in there. Indeed, it's not meant to be a game of excitement and rush. Passion lies in the quality and elegance of the shots.
