When it was announced at COMPUTEX Taipei in 2007, few expected the unprecedented success of the Asus Eee PC. Today, after several upgrades and facelifts later, the Asus Eee PC is retailed all across the world in different variants and prices. Our test unit, the 1000H is the latest in the Eee PC lineage and sports the same Atom based processor synonymous with other netbooks, but it is still different in many aspects. For one, it boasts of a 6-cell battery which is rare. The battery does stick out at the back, but it will offer much battery life compared to the others. Secondly, the overall ergonomics of the keyboard and the track-pad are comparable to that of a mainstream laptop. You won't feel that you're working on a sub-notebook, thanks to its intelligently placed keys and large touchpad. The keyboard also offers four one-touch keys, two of which you can customize as per your needs. Finally, it offers Draft-N Wi-Fi which none of the others do. In PassMark the 1000H scored 228, marginally higher than the Aspire One. However, the Eee PC emerges as the winner because on a full charge, it lasts a good 4 hours, a figure even high-end mainstream laptops struggle to achieve.
