While the HD 4870 earns the high-end-crown for showcasing stunning results at a reasonable price, its little brother, the HD 4850 steals the show from 9800 GTX because of a lower price and better performance. This mid-range graphics card incorporates a core clock frequency of 625 MHz, and a memory clock frequency of 1000 MHz. Like the HD 4870, it is based on the new RV770, features the same amount of stream processors (800), but incorporates 512 MB GDDR3 class RAM. It emerged out as a winner in all our benchmarks. In 3DMark06, it got a remarkable score of 14400, which is higher than what we got from Nvidia's 9800 GTX.
