Why it is hot: What beats the enjoyment of watching a movie or football match in the clarity and depth of High Definition? Answer- not much else! High Definition content has been on the anvil for a long time, but has not really arrived because of two major reasons- shortage of satellite transponder space and the high cost of the HD capable set top boxes. Since most manufacturers have stopped production of CRT televisions, the huge majority of televisions being sold right now are the flat panel ones, which are crying out for HD content. Certain TV channels like NewsX, Discovery and National Geographic are already HD Ready.
