摘要

In Japan, the New Barrier-Free Act (the Law for Promoting Easy Mobility and Accessibility for the Aged and the Disabled) was enforced in 2006 to enable the full participation of the aged and the handicapped in society. This act is used for city and architectural planning. The handicapped cannow travel about towns safely and take advantage of buildings and facilities easily. Nevertheless, some dangers and inconveniences remain. It is important to examine public facilities and approaches to public spaces around the world in order to learn more about ways in which to improve the provisions and equipment for the disabled in Japan. In Europe, these problems have been addressed for a long time. Especially in the UK, social security and social welfare as public policy were realized early on.The development of laws and measures in recent years has also progressed significantly in the UK. In this context, public offices, facilities, equipment, and accessibility were investigated in London, UK as part of this study. The objects of study included public transportation, public facilities, commercial buildings, and open spaces. The main purpose of this study is to ensure that Japan, which has become an aged society, can develop as a maturity society and can continue to be a society in which people can enjoy a rich life.
