Development of needlefelts for technical applications

Needlefelts are used in a variety of applications and have a wide range of properties and appearance depending on the requirement profile. These result not only from the choice of the used fiber polymer and the fiber fineness but are also characterized by parameters such as area weight, thickness or density, which can be specified in wide variations. Only a few representatives of this product group can actually be seen in everyday life, such as floorcoverings, wash felts for car washing and care, or even acoustic elements. In many other technical applications, needlefelts fulfill their tasks in secret. Well-known examples for these kinds of needlefelts are filter media for the deposition of process dusts or nonwoven fire blocker layers, which are installed for fire protection reasons within seats of trains or aircraft. Optical aspects are therefore usually not the main focus of these materials.
