Weaving carbon fibre in a single piece to make a three-dimensionalT-bar

A three-dimensional (3D) profile in the shape of aT-Bar can now be woven from carbon fibre in a single piece, says the Swedish company Biteam. The company says its profile is a fully integratedT-beam with a solid square or rectangular bar at the tip of the T. Biteam has developed this structure as the basis of a composite preform that will allow manufacturers to use a joining system that functions both as a stiffener and a support in large structures, just as is found in woodwork.
