Philips and Desso to introduce light-emitting carpet in 2014

Two Dutch partners have developed a carpet that contains light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and have now signed an exclusive agreement to sell it jointly in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In addition, the two firms have signed another agreement to develop ways to integrate the carpet into existing buildings. Royal Philips of Eindhoven, a global leader in lighting technology, and Waalwijk-based Desso, a major carpet manufacturer, say their light-transmitting carpet will be unveiled in 2014, but that they are already working on pilot projects.
