Fully automated system for handling delicate fibres unveiled

A fully automated system, which is designed to wrap, pack and prepare for transport sensitive fibres (including carbon fibre) is now available. Machinery builder and fibre specialist Cygnet Texkimp of Northwich, UK, says its system reduces manual handling of delicate and valuable fibres, and so helps to preserve their quality and consistency. A production-scale version has already been commissioned for use in a new carbon fibre facility where it will be used to process 1500 six-kilogram bobbins every six hours. This particular system meets the requirements of the Geneva, Switzerland-based International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)'s code for protection against intrusion from manual contact, dust, accidental contact and water, achieving a rating of IP6x.
