Fibertex Nonwovens invests in European production of nonwovens

In response to increasing demand for its products, Fibertex Nonwovens of Aalborg, Denmark, has announced that it is investing approximately €40.4 million (DKK300 million) to increase its production capacity for nonwovens in Europe.In March 2021, the company revealed that it was investing a similar amount to increase its production capacity for nonwovens in North America (see also, this issue, Fibertex Nonwovens invests in US operations, page 38).According to Fibertex Nonwovens' Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jorgen Bech Madsen, the human coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic has caused demand for hygiene products, such as disinfectant wipes, to explode (see also, this issue, Strong investment in nonwoven capacity is sustainable post-pandemic, page 10). He adds that, over the last few years, there has also been growth in demand for high-performance nonwovens for use in such as industrial products, acoustic products for the automotive industry and industrial nanofiltration. With investments totalling a little over €80.8 million (DKK600 million), Fibertex Nonwovens is positioning itself to serve this demand.
