A new process variant for the laser welding of plastic components provides more color choices for greater design freedom. Until now, the dominant color had been black because one joining partner had to be colored with black pigment to ensure that a maximum of energy of the laser beam is absorbed to achieve optimal melting of the plastic in the joint zone. This determined the color of the entire component however.
