Plastics are one of the major components of automobiles, including cars. Thus, in theory, every end-of-life car is a source of raw material that largely comprises of plastics. However, plastics that are processed and built into a car or its components, is rarely recycled and reused. The shredded plastic parts are compressed into granulate material and are typically indiscriminately mixed that it has never yet been possible to separate them into their individual types again, thus preventing their further use.
