Sometimes when I have needed to make notes for a measurement or two, I have written them on the case of my tape measure. This is not a great location for this. Pencil marks don't really show up that well on the case, and they often rub off if I handle the tape a couple of times before I get to the saw. While doing a bunch of trim work recently, I decided to put a piece of masking tape on the case so that I could make my notes there. When the piece got full, I placed another piece over it.
