One thing that I think is often overlooked on deck projects is low-voltage LED lighting. There's an abundance of options out there, but I try to stick with brands that will stand the test of time. I've been let down so many times by premature failures of outdoor LED systems that I was determined to find at least one brand that I could stand behind after installation. For me, that's In-lite. I like to use the In-lite Fusion 22 fixture for seating areas and the HYVE 22 for stair risers. They're easy to install, come with a five-year warranty, and retail for around $40 to $45 each. I've enjoyed using these lights so much that I worked with the company to create a limited edition Dr. Decks Dark light, featuring a black bezel that makes the lights less conspicuous than the standard stainless-steel versions.
