Możliwości zatrudnienia absolwentów średnich i wyższych szkół leśnych w prywatnym sektorze usług leśnych

The paper reports on the state of employment (presently and in the past) of forest secondary school and university graduate students with special account taken of the Stare Treasury owned forests, which prevail in Poland (nearly 80% of the total forest land). Employment opportunities offered to graduate students in the dynamically developing private sector of forest services is the effect of changes in the sociopolitical system especially after 1995. The author identifies reasons for the critical situation on the shallow labour market pointing to a simultaneous rise in the educational level of young job-seeking foresters. Changes that are to follow in the education system should consider among others the broadening of the educational offer for young foresters including new specialisations in the forestry profession, which in the nearest future may be needed to meet society's expectations for a multifunctional forest management.
