Numerous problems that forest districts had to face in connection with windbreaks and windfalls after the storm of 4 July 2002 in the Piska and Borecka Primeval Forests were already solved. However, it seems advisable to mention some of them in the context of making use of the solutions and settlements regarding harvesting of timber from wind damaged stands in these forest districts. The paper presents the analysis of natural and economic conditions, as well as manpower resources as the basis for drawing up an annual plan of timber harvest in damaged stands. The methods and technological processes of timber harvest arc proposed in the paper. Theoretical, technical unit costs using selected technical means depending on output were also provided. The author takes an effort to analyse the profitability of harvesting of timber from windbreaks and windfalls in premature stands.
