The photovoltaics industry is tripping itself up once again on the issue of rapidly expanding the installed capacity. There is no lack of demand at present, Silicon is available in sufficient quantities and so are the modules. But the inverter shortage persists.rnIn the night of 18th to 19th April 2010, an as yet unknown thief stole six inverters from a photovoltaic installation in Coesfeld, Germany. In doing so, he even accepted the attacks of a dog as well as the risk of falling to the ground. In 2009,16 cases of inverter theft and two theft attempts were reported to the police in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. This was a 100 % increase in comparison with 2008, the state's Office of Criminal Investigation announced. The office, which is usually concerned with fighting organized crime, even called this a "new phenomenon of criminality".
