Vietnam's growing energy thirst is putting politicians under pressure to take action. Sufficient potential is available and even the political framework is slowly improving. Especially, wind energy could expand in view of the exceptional conditions.rnSince the economic opening 20 years ago, the Southeast Asian coastal state has been following a considerable development with the highest growth rates in the gross domestic product across all of Southeast Asia. In 2006, Vietnam joined the ranks of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) as its 150th member with the target of expanding its international trading activities and attracting foreign investors. But along with the economic growth, the energy demand has been soaring.
