The Swiss PV machine engineering manufacturer Oerlikon from Pfaffikon has sold its solar technology arm to the Japanese company Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL). TEL makes manufacturing equipment for the semiconductor industry. Oerlikon's CEO Michael Buscher explains that his company can now concentrate on the remaining profitable sectors such as textile machines. For TEL the purchase is linked to a long-term strategic development of the solar business.
