A standard in the making

Wind energy is an international business providing employment to a growing number of people. However, there is still a lack of a global standard for harminized employee qualification. The Global Wind Organisation is aiming to fill this gap. According to the industry association RenewableUK, 1,500 accidents happened in the wind industry in the UK alone over the last three years, some 300 of which resulted in injuries to people. Only in January, a worker was killed in Germany during wind turbine construction on the Bard Offshore I wind farm.
