Winds strong in the north, weak in the south

In 2011, wind speeds were 5 to 10 % above normal in northern Europe and up to 10 % below normal in southern Europe. This is shown in the wind performance map of Europe, which the US company 3Tier released for the year of 2011. According to 3Tier, wind yields across Europe varied considerably. In the UK, Scandinavia, and around the Baltic Sea wind speeds trended 5 to 10 % above normal, while southern Europe experienced wind speeds up to 10 % below normal except for isolated areas along the Mediterranean coast.
