DNV and Germanischer Lloyd to merge

Pending the approval of antitrust authorities, the GL Group will lose its independence and merge with DNV. The DNV Foundation will hold a 63.5 % stake in the new DNV GL Group. The owner of the GL Group, Mayfair S.E., will hold a 36.5 % share. The DNV GL Group will have its corporate headquarters in H0vik, Norway near Oslo and will comprise four business units: Maritime, Oil and Gas, Energy, and Business Assurance. The new field of ship classification (Maritime), with more than 13,000 ships, will be led from the GL facility in Hamburg.
