The Preservation Of Great Zimbabwe: Your Monument, Our Shrine Webber Ndoro

In technical literature, as opposed to the deceits of fiction, one should be permitted to judge a book by its cover, or at least trust that the title will embody the text within. This book has a title in two parts and a text in nine chapters. It runs to 90 pages, ten plates, 11 illustrations, four tables, seven bar charts, 21 maps, 175 references and an author, Webber Ndoro. ICCROM has published a revised version of Ndoro's 2001 PhD thesis submitted to Uppsala University, Sweden, as the fourth in their Conservation Studies series. Ndoro has also co-authored the fifth of six books published by ICCROM in 2005 {Legal Frameworks for the Protection of Immovable Cultural Heritage in Africa), with most of the earlier offerings in the series covering immovable heritage with a skew towards Africa and traditional practice to some extent. It is the second part of the reviewed title that continues this thread in the current work on what seems to be the author's close involvement in the preservation of the World Heritage site Great Zimbabwe.
