The mortgage meltdown as normal accidental wrongdoing

We have briefly summarized normal accident theory, presented a preliminary normal accident analysis of the mortgage meltdown, enumerated some insights that we have gleaned from this analysis and considered the relationship between normal accidents and wrongdoing. While we are not policy experts, we hope that our planned fully developed normal accident analysis of the meltdown will provide some insight into the sort of policies that might reduce the chances of a similar crisis in the future. At the moment, though, we can only speak in very general terms.
