SA: How did you first encounter and enter the local steel industry?rnAR: I completed my Commerce Degree at the University of Western Australia in 1988 and was looking to join one of Australia's Top 10 companies. At the time of graduating I had the opportunity of joining the Commonwealth Bank in Treasury or BHP in the steel group. I cannot remember the reason for my final decision for joining BHP Steel as a marketing graduate in the area of structural steel, however I think it was my aversion to the bank's uniform at the time -encompassing 'long socks and short pants'.
