Broadband Said to Benefit Seniors, Disabled, Economy

The benefits of accelerated U.S. broadband deployment to seniors and Americans with disabilities could "easily exceed a trillion dollars" over the next 25 years, invigorating the economy and improving the lives of millions of citizens, a Brookings Institution economist said last week. The predicted gains come from lower medical and institutionalized living costs as well as additional output generated by more seniors and disabled workers in the labor force, Robert Litan said.
