'Man meets machine aboard the ISS', NASA proudly announced as Dan Burbank shook hands with Robonaut2 (R2) inside Destiny on 15 February, finding it to be 'a firm handshake...quite an impressive robot' to cheers at the Payload Operations Center (POCC) in Huntsville, Alabama. R2 also managed to say 'Hello world', using sign language prior to further checks one month later when on 13/14 March Pettit installed a heat sink in the forearm of R2 and the ground commanded R2 through a series of dexterity tests including another handshake and sign language.
