James Webb Space Telescope (JWST)

JWST launch expected no earlier than 2013 (22 months behind schedule) due to a $1.1 billion overrun. U.S. State Department finally grants the required approval for launch on an Ariane 5 ECA; however, the long inter-agency process delayed the JWST schedule by roughly one year. JWST management is reviewing possibility of simplifying test procedures to streamline the telescope's development.
