NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) provides opportunities for small satellite payloads to fly on rockets planned for upcoming launches. These CubeSats are included as auxiliary payloads on previously planned missions. Sponsor. NASA provides access to space for satellites developed by NASA centers, accredited schools, and nonprofit organizations. Each satellite is sponsored by a different organization, and each of those organizations funds development of its own satellite(s). Status. Operational. NASA conducts a selection for new CSLI candidates about once per year. Launches are conducted when opportunities arise. Total Produced. In total, approximately 80 CubeSats have been built and launched under the CSLI.
