C.K. Shum - Vice-Chair of SubCommission B2 on International Coordination of Space Techniques for Geodesy and Geodynamics

Professor C.K. Shum is a Professor and Distinguished University Scholar, Division of Geodetic Science, School of Earth Sciences, Ohio State University. He is a Fellow of IUGG's International Association of Geodesy (IAG), and was President of IAG's Section II: Advanced Space Technology, 1999-2003. He and his research group focus on contemporary scientific problems related to the measurement of global sea-level rise and an improved understanding of the geophysical causes contributing to the rise, including the effect of anthropogenic climate change. He also studies other geophysical processes contributing to sea-level rise including ice-sheet mass balance, solid Earth viscoelastic glacial isostatic adjustment resulting from ancient ice-sheet ablation, steric expansion of the ocean and ocean circulations, mountain glacier thawing.
