Satellite Industry Revenue Jumps 6 Perecent in 2003

Worldwide satellite industry revenue rose 6 percent in 2003, as growth in services offset declines in the satellite manufacturing and launch sectors, while ground equipment sales remained steady, according to a new survey. Sales related to satellite construction, launch services and ground systems hit $91 billion worldwide last year, compared to $86.1 billion in 2002, according to the latest annual "State of the Satellite Industry" survey released by the Satellite Industry Association (SIA) of Arlington, Va. The figures were compiled on behalf of the SIA by Futron Corp., a market research firm in Bethesda, Md.
