Latin American Satellite Market Shows Signs of Life

Latin American satellite operators said their market appears to have hit bottom after several rough years and now shows signs of recovering, with Ku-band capacity offering the best near-term growth possibilities. Addressing the Satellite 2004 conference organized by PBI Media here March 3, representatives of several of these companies lamented the fact that despite the financial downturn, none of the many regional satellite players has quit the market. Over-capacity persists, they said, despite the fact that several satellites have been delayed or canceled.
