Eumetsat Secures 23% Budget Increase In 2009

Europe's meteorological satellite organization, Eumetsat, has secured a 23 percent budget increase for 2009 to begin early preparations for the launch of its next geostationary and polar-orbiting satellites, Eumetsat officials said Dec. 11. The decision to raise the budget of Darmstadt, Germany-based Eumetsat to 229 million euros ($291 million)was made by the 22-nation organization's ruling council, which met Dec. 9-10 in Darmstadt.
