Geoeye Signs Imagery Deal, Calibration Issues Persist

GeoEye of Dulles, Va., has finalized a one-year, $150 million agreement with the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) that covers satellite imagery from GeoEye-1 once the satellite is fully calibrated and operational, a Dec. 10 GeoEye press release said. The agreement represents a modification to the NGA's NextView contract, which subsidized the construction and launch of GeoEye-1 and WorldView-1, a similar satellite built by DigitalGlobe of Longmont, Colo. Under the 12-month agreement, NGA will pay GeoEye $12.5 million each month. In return, GeoEye will provide imagery from GeoEye and its previous-generation Ikonos satellite.
