Two New Satellite Orders Boost Revenue at Thales Alenia Space

Thales Alenia Space posted sharp increases in revenue, new orders and pretax profit for the six months ending June 30 and is likely to end the year with a revenue growth of 10 percent or more compared to 2007 despite continued pressure from the U.S. dollar's decline, according to Thales Group, which owns 67 percent of Thales Alenia Space. In a July 29 conference call with investors, Thales Group officials said the space division's performance in the first six months of 2008 was powered in part by two new commercial satellite orders.
