Eight years ago, NASA's human space exploration program was clouded in uncertainty. While the agency touted the progress it was making on Constellation, including a suborbital test flight of its Ares 1 rocket, those working on the program worried that its delays and a change in administrations, and with it a likely change in policy, put its future in jeopardy. And they were right to worry, as the Obama administration moved in 2010 to cancel Constellation.
