During the past holiday season NASA headquarters became the scene of a presidential-transition soap opera, with Administrator Mike Griffin fighting to keep his job and preserve his legacy in what is supposed to be a new chapter in U.S. space exploration. Some media reports have portrayed a power struggle between Mr. Griffin and members of President-elect Barack Obama's NASA transition team; a palace drama complete with confrontations, conspiracies, cover-ups and hidden agendas.
