SpaceX's future depends on NASA's past

If all had gone according to plan, SpaceX likely would have inaugurated Launch Complex 39A later this year with the long-delayed first flight of the Falcon Heavy rocket. Or, depending on schedules, it might have been the first test flight of its Crew Dragon spacecraft being developed under NASA's commercial crew program. Both would be fitting uses of a pad that previously hosted Apollo 11 and the first and last shuttle flights, among many dozens of other launches.
