Two major problems with the paper by Linton et al. (1994) are their assumptions that firstly, the Westonaria Formation (their Unit 1) is comagmatic with other units in the Klip-riviersberg Group, and secondly, that there is not a substantial hiatus between the Witwatersrand and Ventersdorp Supergroups.
