Back in the "good old days" control systems served one specific purpose; control AV devices in a room. They did a great job doing that. But times, buildings, and technology have changed a lot since then. Now, companies want to do more than control AV in one room or even several rooms; they want to monitor and manage hundreds of rooms and all the technology in them, not just AV. They want to manage entire buildings and campuses. The problem, however, is traditional control systems weren't built to do that.
