THE Chief of the General Staff, Gen Mark Carleton-Smith, says he wants to ensure the Army is sufficiently well equipped to tackle new and growing threats in the virtual space as well as on the battlefield. Speaking at the Royal United Services Institute's land warfare conference in London, he said the nature of conflict "had broadened beyond traditional physical spaces". "Our ability to manoeuvre in the information and cyber domains is already being tested and will increasingly influence how we will modernise, train and fight in the future," he added.
