摘要

A week before writing this note, I received the surprising and very sad news that Susan Leigh Star had died in her sleep on 24 March at her home in Pittsburgh. Leigh and her spouse Geoffrey Bowker had moved to the University of Pittsburgh last summer and were happy about the move and excited about building a program in the School of Information Sciences. Leigh has had a large presence in the STS field over the past three decades. Leigh and Geof are current Co-Editors of Science, Technology, & Human Values, and Leigh recently served a two-year term (2005-2007) as President of the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S).
