Greg Burnett is currently a lecturer in education at the University of Otago in New Zealand. His research interests include critical discourse analysis, postcolonial theory, teachers' lives and the very intriguing politics of culture and identity in Pacific education debates that prompted this article.Jessica Byron is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations in the Department of Government, University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica.
