Pa. PUC to hear from PECO,Sensus on smart meter overheating

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission plans to hold an informationalnmeeting Sept. 13 to learn more about the decision by PECOnEnergy Co. to suspend its smart meter program after several of thendevices caught fire. Representatives of PECO and the utility’s threensmart meter vendors — Sensus Metering Systems Inc., Landis+Gyrn(Europe) AG and Elster Group SE — are scheduled to take questionsnfrom commissioners on recent incidents, one of which involved anSensus meter catching fire and requiring firefighters to extinguish.
