China reverses curbs on coal mine working days

China’s National Development and Reform Commission said Nov. 17 that all legitimate coal mines can return to a 330-working-day year until March 15, 2017. Coal mines will be allowed to operate at their maximum of 330 days per year, prorated until the end of the country’s so-called “heating season” - a period when the Chinese government provides central heating for northern regions and usually lasts from Nov. 15 to March 15, 2017.
