The World Economic Forum has outlined a number of guiding principlesthe boards of publicly traded corporations can follow to ensure they areappropriately overseeing their companies’ strategies and policies regardingclimate change.Investors are increasing pressure on companies to ensure they are wellpositioned in the long- and short-term to handle or take advantage ofclimate-related risks and opportunities, but the paper said little advice isavailable on specific ways boards should oversee those efforts. And theUnited Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in October 2018warned that the world needs to quickly ramp up efforts to reduce emissionsover the next decade to limit and mitigate the physical impacts of climatechange.
