Mission Coal ends production at Pinnacle mine in West Virginia

LLC’s Pinnacle low-vol hard coking coal mine is no longerproducing coal, according to the company and the U.S. Mine Safety andHealth Administration.MSHA, which releases quarterly production data for U.S. mines, gave thestatus of the mine in Wyoming County, W.Va., as “non producing” as of Oct. 5.Operator Mission said in an Oct. 19 statement that the mine is closed,power will be cut off within a week and the mine will begin to flood.“There are reserves that may be accessed through another portal withinsix months, but these are not longwall reserves,” the company said.
