Transport Trust Red Wheel plaques unveiled at Hartlepool

On 6th February 2019 the Lord Lieutenant of Durham, Mrs. Sue Snowdon, unveiled two Red Wheel plaques on Hartlepool station. These had been ajoint project between the Transport Trust and the Friends of Hartlepool Station. Whilst a lot of the donkey work had been undertaken by Mike Anderson of the FoHS and Mark Simmons of Hartlepool Museums, much of the background research had fallen to three Teesside SLS members, Steve Frost, Vic Branfoot & myself. It is believed that Hartlepool is the first station to be awarded two Red Wheels (discounting Wales where they are duplicated in English & Welsh!)
