摘要

Future military operations will need to be supported by enhanced command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems as well as modeling and simulation (M&S) systems. These operations will rely increasingly on trading information technology for more traditional physical force parameters. Therefore, C4ISR systems must integrate M&S methods and technology to fulfill the users' needs for alternative course of action analysis, consistency checks of decisions, planning, mission rehearsal, after-action analysis, and so on. Furthermore, traditional training applications, such as computer-assisted exercises (CAX), as well as embedded training require the interaction of these two families of systems. The resulting interoperability challenge can be met in various ways, ranging from integrated architectures for future systems to interface solutions for legacy applications.
