As the London Olympics were in full swing the UK Department for Education released misleading statistics about the number of school playing fields that had been sold to developers, thus depriving schools of sports facilities. Education Minister Michael Gove at first said the number was 20; later, the department apologised and said it was 30; later still, one more was added.
